Head of Religious Studies – High Wycombe

Location: High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner if available)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR (dependent on experience)

Supply Desk are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in High Wycombe to recruit an inspiring and experienced Head of Religious Studies. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate RS specialist looking to step into, or continue in, a leadership role within a supportive and ambitious school environment.

The successful candidate will lead the Religious Studies department, driving high standards of teaching and learning while fostering students’ understanding of different beliefs, cultures, and ethical perspectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Religious Studies department, including curriculum planning and development
• Deliver engaging and high-quality RS lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable)
• Support, coach, and develop members of the department
• Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise attainment
• Contribute to the wider ethos and values of the school community

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Have strong subject knowledge in Religious Studies
• Demonstrate leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role
• Be committed to delivering inclusive and thought-provoking lessons
• Have a passion for developing both students and staff
