Portfolio Risk and Economic Capital Analyst

The Role
Lead the full delivery of Economic Capital activities - managing data, assumptions, model updates, forecasts, and coordination with external partners - while ensuring everything meets agreed timelines and governance standards.
Represent the client in external meetings, working with industry experts, regulators, and peers to keep risk practices in line with best practice and industry standards.
Use in-depth knowledge of the client’s business to guide how Economic Capital is applied to manage a wide range of risks, including credit, operational, insurance, treasury, residual value, and climate-related exposures.
Stay up to date on industry benchmarks, modelling methods, and regulations to challenge and improve the client’s approach to Economic Capital.
Support asset risk initiatives and strategic projects.
Recommend and implement improvements to data, modelling, and risk communication processes.
Bring stakeholders together to improve understanding and management of portfolio risk.
Act as a key link between internal teams and third-party providers to ensure models and data updates are both technically sound and aligned with business goals.
Oversee the operational delivery of Portfolio Risk, ensuring outputs are clear and well-communicated.
The Candidate
Experienced in working with complex data sets, identifying key trends, and turning them into actionable insights.
Proficient in modelling and programming tools including Python, R, and MATLAB.
Strong grounding in statistics, probability, and other mathematical disciplines, with practical application to real-world problems.
Extensive experience assessing market, credit, and operational risks.
Solid understanding of financial regulations and compliance standards, with the ability to navigate them effectively.
Skilled in building, refining, and applying capital models to measure and manage risk exposure.
Proven track record of working with third-party providers to develop Economic Capital Models and integrate wider industry insights.
The PackageBase Salary: up to £80,000
