Principal Engineer - Product SafetyGlasgow, Bristol or Crewe (Hybrid - minimum 2 days onsite) Up to 68,500 (DOE) Full-time PermanentAbout the RoleWe are looking for a Principal Engineer - Product Safety to play a critical role in ensuring the safety of complex, safety-critical engineering systems. You will lead on hazard identification, risk analysis and safety case development, working closely with Technical Authorities to ensure that products meet stringent safety requirements across the full engineering lifecycle. This is a key position where you''ll act as both a technical specialist and a thought leader, influencing design decisions and ensuring risks are reduced as low as reasonably practicable.Key ResponsibilitiesLead hazard identification, risk assessment and mitigation activitiesDevelop and maintain hazard logs and safety case argumentsConduct and facilitate HAZID workshops and safety reviewsSupport Technical Authorities in ensuring safe design solutionsAssess product safety across complex subsystems and technologiesReview and verify quality and completeness of safety submissionsLead on product safety activities within assigned equipment areasSupport and guide junior engineers where requiredSkills and Experience RequiredStrong knowledge of product safety management processesExperience across multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle (LCM)Understanding of through-life engineering and design integrationFamiliarity with key safety standards, including: DSA-02JSP 430D
