Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established, market-leading acoustic engineering company with over 55 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, and installing noise and vibration control solutions across the UK and Europe. With a reputation for delivering high standards of service and technical excellence, they are embarking on an exciting growth journey and are seeking a skilled CAD Designer to join their dynamic Design Team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced CAD Designer with a background in construction-related sectors such as structural steelwork, curtain walling, or cladding.

As a CAD Designer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and practicality of designs. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Conducting dimensional site surveys for projects across the UK and occasionally in Europe.
• Attending design meetings with customers and stakeholders, both on-site and online.
• Producing general arrangement drawings for customer approval.
• Creating detailed manufacturing and installation drawings, along with bills of quantities.
• Coordinating designs with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Supporting the design team to ensure drawings are accurate, practical, and suitable for manufacturing.
• Producing as-built drawings upon project completion.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A minimum of five years of experience in the construction industry, ideally within structural steelwork, curtain walling, or cladding sectors.
• A solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication and construction practices.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2026 LT.
• Experience conducting dimensional site surveys.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
• A full UK driving licence and valid passport.
• Willingness to travel for site visits, including occasional overnight stays and potential overseas travel.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A proactive and flexible attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.

Desirable qualifications include experience with Revit, Autodesk Inventor, or SolidWorks, as well as relevant technical qualifications or training.

Your typical day will involve:

• Collaborating with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure designs meet project and manufacturing requirements.
• Preparing and reviewing detailed drawings and specifications.
• Conducting site surveys and attending meetings to gather project requirements.
• Coordinating with stakeholders to address design challenges and ensure seamless project execution.
• Supporting the design team in maintaining high standards of accuracy and practicality in all deliverables.
