RM Recruit are proud to be working with a not-for-profit organisation based in Birmingham who are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Officer to join their team on a full-time, temporary basis for an initial 6-week period, with scope for extension. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to contribute to a dynamic and supportive finance function during a busy period. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and post journals, including monthly and ad-hoc entries Manage prepayments and ensure accurate month-end adjustments Assist with the preparation of accruals in line with financial reporting deadlines Support the month-end and year-end closing processes Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records Assist with audit preparation and respond to queries as needed Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure timely financial information Person Specification Previous experience in a similar finance or accounting role is essential Solid understanding of journals, prepayments, and accruals Proficient in using finance systems and Excel Strong attention to detail and organisational skills Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines AAT qualified or working towards an accountancy qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) is desirable but not essential The ideal candidate will be immediately available or available on short notice.
