Maintenance Engineer - -44,000 + Enhanced Overtime | 4 on / 4 off | Colchester

A well-established food manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. Operating within a chilled, high-care production environment, this is a fantastic opportunity for a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to take on a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

Working a 4 on / 4 off rotating days pattern, you will play a key part in keeping production running smoothly, responding to breakdowns, delivering planned maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules
• Diagnose faults using root cause analysis and implement effective solutions
• Maintain accurate maintenance records to audit-ready standards
• Ensure all work complies with food safety (HACCP), hygiene, and health & safety standards
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment where required

About You

To be considered for this Maintenance Engineer role, you should have:

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent engineering qualification
• Strong multi-skilled background across electrical and mechanical disciplines
• Experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
• A proactive, safety-first approach with good attention to detail
• Electrical fault-finding experience (preferred)
