OverviewThe University of Edinburgh invites applications for a part-time Business Administrator to support the financial processing for the School’s operational budgets.

Grade UE05: £29,588 - £33,951 per annum, pro rata

College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine / Edinburgh Medical School / Medical Education

Part-time: 21 hours per week

Fixed term: 12 months

Edinburgh Medical School invites applications for a part-time Business Administrator to support the financial processing for the School’s operational budgets. The Business Administrator will be responsible for tasks such as raising purchase orders, invoicing, receipting, and paying student expenses, bursaries and prizes as well as reporting on department budgets.

The post is being advertised at 21 hours per week. We are open to flexible working patterns, and requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combine remote and regular on-campus working. The post-holder will be required to be on campus at least once a week.

This role is fixed-term for up to 12 months.

The OpportunityThe post holder will have well-developed interpersonal and organisational skills with a good working knowledge of the Microsoft package, especially Excel. The post holder will be the main contact for finance queries within Medical Education and should therefore be able to plan, prioritise and work under pressure to manage competing demands and deadlines. An ability to use initiative and have an attention to detail is essential. An understanding of financial procedures would be an advantage.

Ability to deal confidently with customers using well-developed interpersonal skills.

Ability to exercise initiative appropriately and to take decisions while working within an agreed framework.

A positive, open-minded and enthusiastic attitude with an ability and willingness to learn new skills, particularly digital skills.

Ideally previous experience of working in a large multi-department organisation.

Previous experience of working within a financial setting.

The salary for this post is £29,588 to £33,951 per annum, pro rata.
