Orthotic clinical support worker

Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a person with admin experience to join the well established Orthotic team here at East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful applicant will work as a member of the orthotic team providing clinical and administrative support for clinicians and assistant staff. The service operates Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm at Accrington Pals Health Centre, Paradise Street, Accrington.Responsibilities
Provide administrative and clinical support within the Orthotics Department, including stock management, equipment servicing, clinic setup, infection control, storeroom management, and daily management of patient information on relevant electronic patient systems.Process administrative tasks: photocopying, filing, correspondence, handling staff and patient enquiries, arranging appointments, reception duties, receiving prescription charges, and invoice management.Assist with clinical service delivery: meeting and greeting patients at reception, arranging transport, ensuring equipment is ready for each clinic, and supporting clinical teams in preparation for meetings and training.Order processing: raising orders, receiving deliveries, managing payments, cross-referencing invoices with orders, and arranging items for manufacturers or other sites as required.Data handling: inputting or collating data for service evaluation and maintaining patient records in line with health and safety, infection control, and other guidance.Support the registered clinician/assistant in assessment and treatment and assist with collecting patient experience feedback. Arrange interpreters and book patient transport as required.Qualifications and experience
Essential: GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4-9 or equivalent.Desirable: ECDL; good knowledge of patient administration systems (e.g., PAS, Patient Centre, OPAS); experience in a administration role; experience in customer care; team-working ability; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).Able to work unsupervised for short to medium periods; able to learn and adapt in a busy environment; strong IT skills with various patient systems.Experience in a similar role with knowledge of referral to booking/patient related administration systems and processes; experience of electronic appointment booking; experience with ENVOY; willingness to adapt to changing service needs.Working environment and expectations
The role involves face-to-face and telephone contact with patients; a helpful, courteous and calm manner is required. The post holder will be trained to undertake different tasks and will be expected to manage a busy workload with prioritisation. The Orthotics Department provides services to patients across East Lancashire; many patients require long-term orthotic treatment, which can be rewarding but demanding.Equal opportunities and DBS
