English Teacher
Job Purpose To deliver high-quality, engaging English lessons that develop students literacy, communication, and critical thinking skills. The English Teacher will inspire a love of reading, writing, and language while ensuring students of all abilities achieve their potential. They will also contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities and whole-school literacy initiatives. Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Plan and deliver English lessons across KS3 and KS4 (and KS5 if applicable), in line with the National Curriculum and exam specifications. Use a variety of teaching strategies to engage, challenge, and inspire students. Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including SEN and EAL students. Assess, record, and report on student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback. Promote a culture of reading for pleasure and appreciation of literature. Curriculum and Assessment Contribute to the design and development of schemes of work, assessments, and resources in English Language and Literature. Prepare pupils for internal and external assessments (GCSE, A-Level, or equivalent). Ensure lessons are inclusive, stretching the most able while supporting those who need additional help. Classroom and Behaviour Management Create and maintain a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment. Uphold high standards of behaviour in line with school policies. Encourage resilience, creativity, and independent thinking
