Maintenance Operative - B5 Area, Birmingham
Pay: Up to £14.35 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Contract: Temporary Contract
Pertemps Recruitment are currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Operative to join a professional facilities and maintenance team, working across a range of modern residential buildings in the B5 area of Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a well-established and supportive environment, delivering essential maintenance and refurbishment works.

The Role:

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and minor installations across residential buildings, communal areas, and external facilities.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and reported issues, ensuring safety and minimal disruption to residents.
• Carry out inspections of housing units and communal areas to identify potential hazards, defects, or required repairs.
• Conduct basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, and electrical repairs in line with skill level and health & safety regulations.
• Ensure all maintenance work meets compliance, quality, and safety standards, following relevant housing and building regulations.

What You Need:

• Proven experience in general building maintenance, repairs, or facilities management within a housing, residential, or property maintenance environment.
• Strong background in multiple trades such as plumbing, carpentry, joinery, painting, decorating, tiling, and basic electrical work.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose faults, plan effective repairs, and carry out both reactive and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Experience working in occupied properties, with sensitivity and professionalism when engaging with residents or tenants.
• Knowledge of building systems, maintenance best practices, and the use of handheld tools and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to manage workload independently, prioritise tasks, and meet service targets in a fast-paced environment.
