** HAVE YOU EVER TASTED KINDNESS? **The Head Chef at Human Kind Café leads the delivery of high-quality, nourishing vegan and vegetarian dishes, while helping lead a positive, inclusive kitchen environment. This role combines culinary creativity with a commitment to our social mission, supporting skill development, sustainability, and community connection.KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREASPlan and prepare seasonal, sustainable vegan and vegetarian menusLead service and ensure smooth kitchen operationsOversee food prep, stock rotation, and waste managementOrder ingredients and supplies as neededMaintain high standards of hygiene, food safety, and cleanlinessSupport and mentor all kitchen staff. Handle all kitchen staff issues such as attendance and sick leaveOversee maintenance of kitchen equipment and organise repairs when neededMake sound business/financial decisions regarding stock and equipmentContribute to our inclusive training programme for community membersSupport ad hoc community training eventsOpen up the café and/or lock up when required.EXPERTISE REQUIRED FOR THE ROLEProven experience as a Head Chef or a strong Sous Chef ready to step upCreativity and superior culinary skillsLevel 3 or above in Catering or equivalent qualificationThe ability to constantly perform well in a high-pressure and fast-paced environmentExcellent knowledge of Health and Safety regulationsSolid financial acumen, including the ability to manage a budgetA passion for plant-based cooking and sustainable food practicesStrong communication and leadership skills to lead and motivate a teamCreative flair and attention to detailA team player with a calm, can-do attitudeCommitment to Equal Opportunities and anti-discriminatory behaviourWillingness to support occasional evening events
