Mechanical Engineer (Senior, Principal, Senior Principal or Experienced) - Hydropower at Stantec. The role focuses on the design and development of hydropower and pumped storage solutions. There are multiple grades available (Senior, Principal, Senior Principal or Experienced) depending on experience and qualifications. The position is based with the Hydropower team at Stantec and may support projects in other sectors including Water and Thermal.Responsibilities

Provide mechanical engineering input to solutions and produce outline and detailed designs to support successful project delivery.Work with the Client and a multidisciplinary design group to undertake technical audits, risk evaluations, develop mechanical designs, and liaise with other disciplines at feasibility, outline and detailed stages to produce timely and cost-effective solutions.Develop cost-effective and innovative design solutions in accordance with the Client’s requirements.Support projects in hydropower and pumped storage hydro, with potential involvement in other sectors within Stantec (Water and Thermal).About You

Chartered or Incorporated status with the IMechE is preferred or working towards it.Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant subject.Ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively.Experience in the design and specification of mechanical systems in an industrial context.Experience with rotating machinery.Knowledge and skills in the planning, specification, design, procurement and commissioning of mechanical equipment for projects in the energy sector.Ideally (but not essential) you will be competent in 3D modelling software (e.g., Revit or AutoCAD), have experience working within a BIM environment, and have experience with hydropower applications; experience with pump and large-bore valve specification and selection; experience with balance of plant and other systems typically found in hydropower applications (e.g., HVAC, cooling water, oil recovery, hydraulic control systems, governors, fire suppression, mechanical services).Why Join Us
