WSP in the UK and Ireland .In the role of Engineer working on Overhead Transmission Line projects, you will be responsible for supervising a team of design engineers specializing in Overhead Transmission Lines. This team will be working on a variety of projects ranging from 11kV to 400kV.Responsibilities
Provide technical evaluations and problem-solving guidance to team members.Prepare written proposals outlining project timelines, resource allocation, budgets, objectives, and goals.Offer technical guidance throughout project implementation, statutory planning, and participation in Public Consultation events.Lead engineering and design activities related to overhead lines, including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structure analysis and loading trees, designing criteria, sag-tension calculations, insulator/conductor considerations, swing angles, damper system recommendations, structure spotting, clearance reports, conductor and insulator selection, etc.Conduct feasibility studies, assess conductor thermal ratings, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.Undertake studies to identify the technically preferred solution/layout to present to the Client.Participate in industry working groups such as CIGRE and IEEE.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline, preferably Electrical or Power Engineering.Prior experience in overhead line engineering up to 400kV.Experience on upgrading projects such as High Temperature Low Sag conductors.Desirable – PLS CADD/POLE/TOWER.Knowledge of galloping studies, EMF and Field Effects Calculation, Wake effect, AC Interference for gas pipelines is a plus.Willingness to travel as projects dictate.What We Offer
