Initial 12 month assignment (likely to be extended)
Working Hours 8:30am-4:45pm Mon-Thurs + 8:30am-4:15pm Fri
The Metallurgical/Materials Engineer will provide materials engineering support, which provides the opportunity of being involved in investigating a wide range of different materials in multiple applications.
Whilst this is a technical role, you will also be required to build collaborative partnerships across the UK facilities to provide feedback and insights to both internal and external audiences.
What will the Metallurgical Engineer do?
- Resolving issues regarding the design or manufacturing. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
- Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
- Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.
- Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.
What experience does the Metallurgical Engineer need?
- Materials Science/Metallurgy degree and/or substantive practical working experience within a materials laboratory environment
- Metallurgical / materials evaluation of new products, processes and or systems
- Engaging communicator; Able to convey technical assessments and results to both technical and non-technical colleagues
- Providing technical guidance on product and process maintenance
- Ability to Identify metallurgical / materials manufacturing defects and make process improvement recommendations
Competitive Hourly Rate – PAYE
5 days/week attendance in the Office is mandatory.
