Quality & Compliance Manager – Precision Engineering

Location: Bolton
Hours: Mon–Thu, 7.30am–4pm | Fri, 7.30am–1pm
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £40,000–£50,000 (DOE)

We’re recruiting a Quality & Compliance Manager on behalf of a growing precision engineering company in Bolton. This is a pivotal role for an experienced professional to take the lead in maintaining and improving Quality Assurance and Health & Safety standards, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Quality Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Quality team to ensure product and process compliance.
  • Maintain and develop the company’s ISO 9001 Quality and BMS
  • Plan, conduct, and document internal audits in accordance with ISO 9001.
  • Support external and supplier audits, ensure audit readiness and effective closeout of findings.
  • Monitor and drive improvements in quality KPIs including customer complaints, internal non-conformances, and supplier non-conformances.
  • Review and approve inspection and test plans, work instructions, and quality documentation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement root cause analysis and corrective actions (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys).
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence and product quality.

Key H&S Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop the company’s ISO 9001 Health & Safety & BMS.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits across manufacturing and office environments.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Support incident investigations and contribute to corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Deliver or coordinate basic H&S training as required.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Quality Management role within a manufacturing environment (ideally engineering/manufacturing based).
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001, with experience in internal auditing.
  • Strong understanding of ISO and practical experience conducting risk assessments.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent H&S qualification.
  • Experience leading or supporting external supplier or third-party audits.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using quality tools and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, 8D, SPC).
  • Strong documentation and process development skills.
  • Desire to apply technical advancements and solutions
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma).
  • Experience with engineering in a manufacturing environment.
