Job Title: Social Worker - Long Term Safeguarding Team
Location: Gateshead Council
Hourly Rate: -27.56 per hour

Job Description:
Gateshead Council is seeking an experienced and committed social worker to join the Long Term Safeguarding Team. This role focuses on working with children and families where there are ongoing safeguarding concerns, with the aim of achieving long-term stability, safety, and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of children subject to child protection plans, child in need plans, or care proceedings

• Undertake complex assessments and develop outcome-focused care plans

• Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with children and families

• Work in partnership with multi-agency professionals to safeguard and support children

• Prepare and present reports for court and attend legal proceedings as required

• Regularly review and update plans to ensure they remain relevant and effective

• Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records in accordance with statutory requirements

Requirements:

• Qualified social worker with current registration

• Strong experience in child protection, safeguarding, and care planning

• Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practices

• Excellent assessment, communication, and organisational skills

• Ability to manage complex cases and make sound decisions under pressure
