The roleWorking within the Major Projects team, the First Light Senior Client Project Manager will manage the delivery of the base build, retail, catering and Planetarium refurbishment workstreams from the client side, acting as point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and contractors for First Light - an ambitious capital project to transform the visitor experience at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. The postholder will ensure that the Museum’s values and ambitions are at the project’s core, quality is to agreed standards and that best value for money is achieved.
Key responsibilities
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to refine or define objectives, scope, and deliverables for workstreams.
Develop and refine detailed project plans including budgets, expenses, and resource allocation.
Work with internal teams to minimise disruption and risk to visitors and operations during the construction phase.
Qualifications and skills
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain relationships.
Understanding of museum operations, exhibitions, and collections management.
Proven budget management and financial acumen.
Collaborative and team-oriented approach; problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Contract details
Full-time, fixed term for 3 years or upon completion of First Light in Band 3 – Senior Management.
Core hours: 36 per week, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, with an additional hour as agreed; some flexibility may be required.
Salary£48,205 per annum
