The role of a Care Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the people living within Orchard Homes. We ensure everyone is cared for with dignity and respect, and they are engaged in how they receive support from our staff. You will play a key role in ensuring they participate in meaningful activities and receive the best support in line with their individual needs.Responsibilities include enabling people to remain as independent as possible while providing support and assistance as per the individual''s needs. This includes delivering personal care such as washing, dressing, and oral care.You should be understanding and patient towards everyone and their needs, encouraging and supporting them to participate in leisure activities suited to their preferences, ensuring their social and emotional needs are met. This also involves supporting individuals and groups to outside appointments and leisure outings.Additional duties include making and changing beds, tidying rooms, undertaking light cleaning duties, and helping to keep the home clean, pleasant, and welcoming at all times.You will assist in serving meals and drinks at mealtimes and other times, presenting meals attractively and providing appropriate support during mealtimes.It is essential to understand and comply with all statutory and legal requirements relevant to the role, such as Health and Safety, COSHH, the Care Standards Act, and Infection Prevention and Control policies, to maintain a safe environment throughout the home.Thornton Hall and Lodge are purpose-built homes specializing in care for older people, with Thornton Hall providing 24-hour residential care for 48 residents, and Thornton Lodge offering additional round-the-clock dementia care for 48 residents.Orchard Care Homes has been providing care for older people for over 15 years.
