The department currently has five full-time and one part-time staff members, some of whom also teach other subjects or hold leadership roles.Students study Spanish and French from Years 7-9. From Year 10, 75% of each cohort studies a language to GCSE, with many continuing to A Level. The school''s talent in language learning is evident.Job Description:Heads of Department are key leaders with significant responsibilities, supporting the school''s vision and ethos. Responsibilities include teaching and learning, strategic planning, monitoring, resource management, and creating a positive learning environment.Key Responsibilities:# Developing an inspiring curriculum that promotes effective, lifelong learning.# Ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.# Creating a vision and strategic plan for the department.# Developing Schemes of Learning for all students.# Preparing a three-year strategic plan supported by an annual action plan.# Conducting annual self-reviews of the department and adjusting strategies accordingly.# Participating in course selection and implementation discussions.# Collaborating with primary schools for smooth student transition.# Monitoring and evaluating teaching quality and student progress.# Motivating and supporting staff to excel.# Communicating a clear department vision to foster ownership and team spirit.# Line managing and developing staff.# Maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.# Supporting student well-being and behaviour standards.# Maintaining effective communication with parents regarding student progress and behaviour.
